Wild Is The Wind (1966) — Nina Simone
Posted 8/14/25Nina Simone, you will always be the greatest to ever do it. This album is exceptional, as most of her work is. It's made even more exceptional when you remember that she didn't just sing on her albums, but also played the piano, which she did so intricately and expressively throughout the album.
I felt enchanted by this album, like it existed as a fog that drew me in deeper with every song. There are somber ballads, beautiful love songs, and what I consider to be one of the most gut-wrenchingly astute songs ever made, "Four Women," all flowing easily into each other.
It's top tier music the whole way through, and left me feeling grateful for everything Nina Simone was in this life and what her legacy continues to be.
