Parallelograms (1970) — Linda Perhacs
Posted 8/21/25Woah. This one was breathtaking. I love listening to previously unknown albums, but I think this is the first time I've been blown away like this by one. It just goes to show that the public's response can mean nothing when it comes to the quality of the work.
I was enraptured for the entire runtime, almost like she was a siren keeping me locked in her song. Every little detail had heaps of intention behind it, every production choice was a deliberate attempt at crafting an auditory environment, and the vocal layering had to have been quite the labor of love. The lyrics, too, were near perfect. Just stunning poetry that, when paired with the music, took me directly into Perhac's world.
I really do think this is the most beautiful folk album I've ever listened to. While, I can think of albums that reminscent of this one, I can't think of any that do it this well.
Linda Perhacs, you will always be famous to me.
