Court and Spark (1975) — Joni Mitchell

This is another significant album from my childhood. My mom had this playing all the time in her house, and I used to hate it as a kid. I think it was just my attempt at being a contrarian because holy guacamole what was I thinking?? As an adult, this is one of my favorite albums of all time. It captures Joni Mitchell in between her folk and jazz eras, a perfect fusion of both.

Joni is such a poet, but also an insanely gifted technical musician, but ALSO a woman with great taste who chose great collaborators.

Court and Spark is an album I put on to bring me back home to myself. Listening to it now, I just looove how Joni uses her voice as an instrument to its fullest extent, swinging high and low depending on what the song needs. She's my GOAT.
